Mass Photometry Filter

What is the best filter to use for filtering the buffer? I have tried a 0.22 um syringe filter but it was adding 2500 counts around 50 kDa. The filters are sealed and not expired. Is there a specific brand recommended?

Hi Emma,

We recommend paying attention to the filter composition, as some filters are known to introduce small quantities of surfactants in the solution that might create noise in mass photometry.

We have these syringe filters internally which we are happy with: gb.gilson.com/syringe-filters-pvdf.html

Another point would be that contamination in the 50kDa range is unlikely to be removed by a 0.22um filter as I would imagine anything that low in mass could pass through the filter.

Hope that helps!
